Long before the Beyoncé and Madonna moments, Object & Dawn's very first press feature came from sustainable fashion outlet Ecocult, in a 2017 piece titled “I'm Obsessed With This New Ethical Festival Fashion Headpiece Brand, Object & Dawn.”
Writer Alden Wicker traces the brand's earliest days: Saida's first headpiece, hand-made from paper mâché horns and disco-ball mirrors for her first Burning Man and the surprise moment that launched the brand three weeks ahead of schedule when Vogue featured three Object & Dawn headpieces from a party called You Are So Lucky.
“I wanted to make a sort of Lego of a headpiece that you can take apart and put together in various shapes and forms according to your desires in the moment,” Saida told Ecocult.
The article also captures the philosophy that still defines Object & Dawn today: modular pieces built to be worn hard and worn often, sourced and crafted in partnership with artisan communities.
